Best day so far

hey! i'm glad your late Christmas was sweet! i wanna see that photo book. i bet its awesome. it was a way good idea. thats too bad about cody . . . sounds like life's not easy for him at all right now. he's a rock star though, he'll soldier through it. that i'm sure of. i seriously hope that shannon is doing good. i'm sure it's not easy. that's sooo sick you have beatles rock band. i cant wait to play that!! i'm gunna be embarrased when i get home from my mission and my mother is beating me at video games. just joking! but seriously.

so wednesday was the best day of my mission. it was magic. first we went to teach a reverand that me and elder kalinja contacted a while ago. he's the freaking man. he's rich by ghanaian standards and is probably the smartest man i've met in ghana. maybe i'd say he's in a tie for smartest along with the chief (i think i told you about him on Christmas?). he is a powerful pastor, he's been invited to other cities and countries to preach. he knows the scriptures well. he just went to nigeria for a month and has returned now so we went to meet him on wednesday. he's a VERY spiritual man, and he is way way humble. he legitamately see's that he can learn from these two 20 year old small boys. he is not listening to the missionaries just so that he can have some cool doctrine to teach his congregation, i can tell he honestly is learning for his own salvation. he needs to be a member.

then we went to visit a woman named felicity. felicity's husband is a member. me and elder kalinja have been teaching her for a LONG time. while we would meet with her, she would just stare at us and not show any emotion or she'd lean her head back on the couch with her eyes closed. she wasnt progressing at all so we stopped teaching her a couple weeks before elder kalinja left. about a week after elder ekaette came we had no one to meet with and the thought came to mind to go and visit her. we had a sweet lesson teaching her again about joseph smith. we felt like she enjoyed it, but it wasnt anything too special. we asked her to pray about him and really stressed the importance of keeping your commitments. after that day, things changed. from that day forth she's come to church every week. we were crazy surprised to see her there the first week and were way pumped. she's been crazy buisy with her wedding and some other things over the last month, so we havent been able to meet with her until this past wednesday. we had such a SWEET lesson, a powerfully spiritual lesson, where she was just asking question after question that the Book of Mormon could plainly answer. she was lively and into the lesson. we were able to make her laugh and it was obvious she loved it. we asked her how it went when she prayed about joseph smith, and she said after she prayed, she heard a small voice say "yes." she turned to her husband and asked him if he heard anything and he said he didnt. then, as she continued to think about joseph smith, she again heard a small voice say "yes." it was so sweet. when we were closing, i was testifying that the church was true and she just stopped me in the middle of my sentence and said "i know, i know," as if i was telling her that the sky was blue.

we were walking to our next appointment, when we met a member of the ward, brother tewiah, who was looking for someone who could join him in giving a blessing to his little sister. we told him we could help and did so! it was sweet, i've been working with elder ekaette to help him to know how to annoint oil and seal the annointing, and he anointed and did well! it was sweet.

we met with some other people throughout the day, and they were all spiritual lessons. at one point, we met with a man named kobe. we had contacted him the day before. when we came, he had his wife and a few of his children seated and waiting for us. we were laughing and stuff the whole time and it was sweet. as we got talking, we found out that she was once a member in cape coast. this was the first time in my mission that i've been able to sit down and teach a family TOGETHER, with a mother, father, and children. families are a little different over here. it was so refreshing to see.

overall, you can see it was a sweet day! we had the west africa area president, elder cardon (1st quorum seventy, yo) come speak to us and one thing he said i wrote down. he said "If you will but do the small things, I promise you that the Lord will show Himself strongly in your ministry to this people." that's what i'm experiencing.

ps. as for anything that i need . . . just more zeebra pens. those same kind that you sent elder ekaette would be sweet! i love those pens. also i could use a new top part of my electric razor. ya know the head razor part that comes off??? i remember reading when i opened it new that you should replace it in like 3 or 6 months or something, and i think it's been like a year and a half haha. on the back of the razor it says that its a phillips/norelco 7340xl. it also says "use only head HR.HQB." i'm hoping that is what i'm talkng about. i can send a picture of it next week if you'd like. thanks!
