Almost twenty

Thanks dad, and thanks everyone for all the happy birthday emails this week! I feel the EXACT same as you, mom and dad...it seems like i've been gone FOREVER, yet somehow its only been three months. at the same time though, its humbling to see how much i've grown and how much really has happened in that same time. one of the best ways to describe the mission is to say "the days feel like weeks, and the weeks feel like days." that is SOOO true. each day seems soo soo long, yet at the end of the week you look back and wonder where the week went. its weird.

thats soo sweet about the air show. i wish i couldve been there with ya. and i'm sorry about the insulin injections. dad, the diabetes has not won. always remember you're in my prayers, along with the business.

mom, thanks for the quick email. thanks thanks thanks so much for doing the camera thing. elder kalinja just turned to me and told me that you told him you got it and he had the biggest smile on his face!!

i know i know i konw i talk slow... if i dont the people dont understand me!! all my manorisms and stuff are changing to what is normal here. for example, i always say ''oye'' haha most of that stuff will be so awkward for me when i get home but whatev.

so this is my birthday week! i've really been looking forward to this week. today was p-day, and we went as a zone to Kakum. it was sweet!

kakum is a rainforest museum/wildlife preserve type of thing. it was beautiful.

i took pics that you guys will be able to see SOMETIME. :)

there was a sweet canopy walk that we went on, we were very high above the ground. i'd try to describe it, but i wouldnt do it justice.

so if you look it up online or look at my pics you'll get the idea. it was sweet.

tomorrow is interviews with president sabey. this happens once every 9 weeks. i'm looking forward to it, i love being around president. i feel like i honestly learn every time i'm around him and when i leave, i'm always energized to work hard. if for no other reason thats how i can tell that he is an effective mission president, that he makes missionaries excited to go out tomorrow and do THE SAME EXACT THIng that they've been doing EVERY DAY. but its awesome.

then, after interviews, the zone leaders are going on splits with us. i'm way looking forward to that cause i'll be with elder strong for a day. he's the man. hes from utah, went to byu, and loves sports like i do! we've spent a long time talking about that and many other things. he's almost exactly one year older that me on the mission. he is a very wise man, one who people listen to when he speaks, because it is usually worth your time. we get along really well, and i look up to that kid alot.

then thursday is the big two zero. i'm an old man now. i got a package from shauna yesterday (thank you!!!) and a letter from mom and one from cindy and barry, but i'm gunna wait to open them, along with my birthday package, until thursday. i'm doing that so i have a reason to look forward to my birthday haha.

then saturday will be the best! we have some baptisms scheduled, and plenty will be baptised. i'll let you know next week how that went!

last week one day during campanion study elder kalinja really told me how much it ment to him that my family (mom i'm pretty sure) is writing him. i cant really express his feelings into words. he is sooo grateful. he said "sometimes when i go to the net, i just feel like crying, because there is not always any emails for me. but now that your family is writng me, i love it because i know that there will be an email waiting for me when i get there." i talk about the family alot, and he loves it whenever i do. the culture of families here is VERY different here than back home. VERY. i'll go into that in detail (i've spent alot of time learning and thinking about it and comparing it to home) more later, probably in a letter home. but for now i'll sufface it to say that it is different. he is towards the end of his mission, and is always thinking of marriage and children, what kind of family he will have and how he will accomplish that. he said he has learned from my family how he wants his family to be. family (and anyone else reading my blog or whatev) please write him every once in a while at least!! even if it means you dont write me, write him! it may seem small to you, but you really dont know the impact that it has on him.

well thanks for everything family i love you like crazy! your in my prayers, keep ghana in yours!!!

love, Elder MacKay
