The generations of a mission

i'm glad conference was sweet this week. i cant tell you how excited i am to read those talks. last time it was sweet cause i got the ensigns from mom way quick. i had ensigns like more than a month before they got the ones to give missionaries here.

i was reading an old conference report from i think it was october 2006 and i found a gem of a talk by elder christopherson when he used to be in the presidency of the seventy. in it he tells a sweet story about his dad and mom. it's all about what it means to be a man.

this past week wasnt too out of the ordinary. we had our interviews with president sabey on wednesday. he talked about the "generations" of a mission. i don't know if it's like this in other mission's, but here, your trainer would be called your father and your trainee is your son...and your trainee's son is your grandson, etc. he said that he and sister sabey have noticed an interesting observation. they said that the "generations" of missionaries is like how it is in real life. if the parents are solid, they have good children who are rooted in the gospel. that creates solid grandkids and it keeps on going. he talked about all of this then said that the generation that i have started that's over in moree (elders adams and brown) are doing really well!

last week we weren't able to meet with comfort at all, or rita. while meeting with joel we found out that his grandmother died last week. he's pretty distraught about it, so we are planning a lesson that will give him comfort and understanding. his mom has traveled to their hometown, so we will also see if we can meet with her when she gets back. we feel that this is the perfect kind of situation for the gospel of Jesus Christ to help, and we're praying that we can turn this moment of sadness of theirs into a heart plus.

(Anybody know what Jesse means by a heart plus?)

sorry there's not too much beef in this email, we came back from playing football on p-day (elder evans scored the game tieing goal in the closing seconds, then we beat them in pk's. it was his first goal on the mission and it was his last football match of his mission, he was pretty happy about it) and me and elder yapo both fell asleep and woke up at five. so we came here quick and now we have to go to a family home evening.

thanks for everything i love you guys!!

love, elder mackay
