thanks for picking up the slack for me on that credit card and thanks for the pin number info :) thanks for the email and the updates on everyone. tell lisa thanks for the pics i love em! i hope grandmas doing better... i'll send some prayers her way.
i havent tried to mail anything yet...honestly i have no idea how. I've gotten three things from home so far. i love em. i got an email that sister harmon (who is one of the most amazing women you'll ever meet. she is sister peterson status) printed out for me from you on like my second to last day in the mtc. then i got that letter with pics from shauna last p-day. and then i got the missionary newsletter from you on i think the 26th. so you sent it on the 15th right?? 11 days not bad... thank you soooooo much for that. i love it. thanks for all the work and stress i'm sure you go through to get all the info and type it up. and i love that you mailed it because i can read it throughout the week. written letters are awesome!! better than emails, but dont get me wrong i love both. (sorry if i'm making alot of typing errors, this keyboard is really ghetto. like, the symbols on the keyboard are random so i just have to remember which ones are which haha).i didnt know we could write letters home in the mtc. i do
nt know how elder lehr learned that. but he's doing good. when we landed in accra, his bag got lost! we all sat there for like twenty min waiting for his bag... and finally a security worker came and gave it to him - somebody had tried to steal it but got caught on the way out!he kinda struggled with the food a little (he actually threw up the first meal it was halarious) he is really good at soccer, the best out of the obruni's. he is up north in the kumasi zone. thats a couple hours from me. its way far from any other zone, all the rest are down south.
a couple things from the mtc i forgot to tell you are that almost half the elders were french
speaking, so everything had to be translated. i loved it there!! but i was so ready to get out of there... alot of us obruni's had some difficult african companions... i had one of the better ones though.thats so awesome that people heard about me and prayed and stuff...i feel loved. i'm doing WAY better, i just get tired really quickly, and i'm super skinny. you guys wont believe it when you see the pics. guess what?? i got tested last week and we found out that i actually had typhoid fever too!! the symptoms of the two are almost exactly the same. the differen
ce is that malaria is a parasite spread through mosquitos and typhoid is a bacteria spread through contact with other people when they dont wash their hands and then touch my food and stuff. but the symptoms are the same so they had me taking pills for both... like ten or eleven a day!!!sister sabey really knows what she's doing... i trust her alot. she really took care of me. i donno if i mentioned it last week but she made me this chicken noodle soup that was AMAZING!! before the soup i really had no desire to eat anything and didnt really eat anything for days... but that soup was so good.
that's sooo sick josh!!!! your the man!!!!!!!! i'm proud of you my brother.
thanks for the info about what pres. sabey said... thats really encouraging - i love that man!!!! he's so spiritual and very smart. i dont think most of the elders realize how smart he is but i can really tell. everything he does is deliberate. he is always thinking and understanding the situation around him. he is very good at making the elders feel comfortable and confident about themselves. he is an inspired man.i have to say that the things i miss most from home are in order:
1 - the people. family and friends. especially the little ones
2 - the food. i think about cafe rio like honestly everyday. this food is difficult to get used to, but i already like it better than when i first got here.
3 - the sports, playing and watching. i hear alot about soccer here, they are all big chelsea fans because of michael essian (ask jason about that one. by the way, send me some sports info j... i dont know why you havent yet...what else could you be doing...taking care of a newborn baby??)
4 - the music-they play alot of american music here though. its cool. i listened to if your not the one by daniel beddingfeild in the taxi on the way into town. it was really random... but i was rocking out. i'm pretty sure elder kalinja thinks im weird now.
i love it here!!! i'm in a tiny village called moree... the people are soooo poor. they are ready for the gospel though. me and elder kalinja opened up a brand new area... so no baptisms to report... but we have four or five comitted. we have goals to teach thirty lessons a week. this week we taught like thirty five.
im out of time so tell shauna and sharie i'll write them back when i can... as for what i need...any kind of american food is awesome...even if i dont like it its cool cause its familiar haha.
thanks for everythnig... also send pictures through the mail i love that.
i love you all and miss you like crazy. this is so hard but so rewarding!!!
love elder mackay
