Real Men

I know what you're thinking; "Wow, Jesse actually sent home some pictures!" Nope. We received a nice letter from Elder Darrow this week, and in it he included this photo. We don't know the names of the young Ghanaians in the picture, but we loved the t-shirt!

Random fact for the day. . . As shown in the following photo, Ghanaian men wear their ties very short for some reason. Maybe to avoid dipping it in their fufu & ground nut soup when they eat! This second photo was taken a year ago when Jesse was first companions with Elder Adams.

To send mail by the church's pouch system, write your message on a single sheet of paper and fold it into thirds, no enclosures, no envelopes. Address the outside, and close it with a piece of tape at the top. The postage is 44 cents (current U.S. rate). Pouch mail goes out from Salt Lake City once a week on Tuesday.

JESSE'S CURRENT COMPANION AND AREA

Jesse is very happy to be serving with Elder Garrett Adams again. They were companions for 4 months early in Jesse's mission, and they had a great experience together. While serving in Moree, Jesse and Elder Adams had the honor of having a baby boy named after them; MacKay Adams Abakah. Jesse says, "it will be sweet to be companions with probably my best friend in the mission - maybe until I finish my mission." Elder Adams is a fellow Nevadan, being from Fallon. They are serving in the Bakaano Branch Area of the Cape Coast Zone on the Southern coast of Ghana. Jesse is enjoying being back in this zone since it is where he began his mission.

THE GHANA CAPE COAST MISSION

On August 21st, 2009 Jesse began his two year service as a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If you visualize an imaginary vertical line down the middle of Ghana, the Cape Coast Mission encompassess roughly the western half. The mission headquarters is on the southwestern coastline of Ghana. This is an English speaking mission, however many African dialects are also spoken. Full time missionaries often learn Twi and Fante as well as other languages while serving. The Ghana Missionary Training Center opened in 2002 and is located in the city of Tema. Church membership in Ghana is over 38,000 people with 99 wards or branches.
