that's so sweet that josh is going to south africa!! man i'm stoked for him. i bet our missions are gunna be very much alike in some ways, but not at all in other ways. that's really sweet. i probably won't get to see him for close to 4 years will i??

that's really a really cool email you got from (former) elder kalinja. i hope i'll get to see him before i get home. make sure to keep his email so that i can get word to him on what day i'll be in accra before going home so that he can meet us somewhere hopefully. he's a good man.

sounds like the valentine's day dinner was sweet. don't worry i'll be there with my girlfriend next year.

today we had a valentine's day feast for our p-day. we all pooled money together and the sister missionaries made a TON of fried rice and chicken. they did well for us.

to answer your question, yep i still have the circle photo. i used it for all my sekondi days, but it's just leaning on the wall by my bed now, i've been kinda lazy to put it up since i've gotten here to kumasi.

i got a random text message from elder lehr in assin foso a couple of hours ago that said "bro, tyson and melissa are engaged!" word travels fast. i'm not sure the two of them are aware that there are people all the way in africa who have heard!! haha i'm really excited for them.

yea about the whole zone picture with the other missionary doing the fake blessing... that's something that some of the natives do here that they think is funny. they'll just pose as if they're giving a blessing or performing a baptism for a picture. i'm not really a big fan of it, i think it's turning something pretty serious into a joke. i didnt know he was there doing that. i had one on my camera too, but i deleted it...

well i've been able to get some updates on sekondi lately. there was a woman who we started teaching right before i left sekondi named adalaide that was really cool. she was baptised a few weeks ago. i was real happy when i heard about that.

there's also been a couple of other baptisms of people i was teaching there. comfort okwori is still meeting with the missionaries who are there, but she still can't yet come to church for a few more weeks cause of her newborn baby.

but the one that i'm most excited about is joel. JOEL'S GUNNA BE BAPTISED THIS TUESDAY!!! oh man i can't explain how happy i am about that...i just can't.

we had another very rewarding week of prosolyting. we have been leaving the apartment early and coming back late every day (meaning i haven't been doing as well on my studying and i'm behind on my journal writing) but we are getting a ton of work done.

maame and mother update. we went to their house tuesday evening and they didn't have time for us cause they were getting ready for midweek! (adults go to mutual here and they call it midweek activity) we taught them a couple of times, they are LOVING the church. they feel like now that they are following God, they have more of a purpose and direction in their lives.

isaac update. we taught him on tuesday and decided to give him a baptisimal date of next month. he said that he wanted to talk about that on saturday (i'm not really sure why...but whatever). so we continued teaching him thoughout the week. we taught him lesson three (the gospel of jesus christ) and started on lesson four this week. we taught him sabbath day and law of chastity. we're moving pretty fast, but he's very intelligent so he can handle it. plus, he just soaks up everything we teach him because he is already convinced that we've shown him the right way.

on saturday we came, and he explained that there were some family problems in his life right now. he was kinda vague about it all (which is fine), and said that he wanted to wait a couple months before sitting down with his side of the family and his wife's side of the family to talk it all out...he said that with all of these problems he didnt think he was worthy to take the sacrament, let alone be baptised. so he said once all of this situation is worked out, he'd baptise. we told him how members can go to the bishop for council and he said "i'll do it."

so on sunday we called isaac out of elder's quorum to intoduce him to bishop koomson. they started talking and bishop was really happy to talk to him. isaac explained that he wanted some advice about something, and bishop just put his arm around him and took him to his office right then and there, it was sweet. isaac came out with a big smile. we didnt get a chance to talk to him much, but he mentioned something to elder christensen about sitting the families down next week, which would be really nice.

i will say something right now that i absolutely mean. isaac, maame, and mother are three of my favorite people that i've ever been around in ghana.

things are still going really well here. i am just praying that i don't get transfered this transfer cause we have quite a few people that most likely will be prepared for baptism by the end of next month and i really wanna stay for that.
