A big learning curve

sorry about last week, i didnt really get to email cause the internet in all of takoradi was out for a couple of days. it actually turned on while we were waiting at the internet cafe, but we had to go to the chapel in just a few minutes and the computers still weren't working properly. so i just got frustrated and left.  : )

to answer your question, dad, yeah the mail usually comes through us zone leaders to the missionaries in our zone. but i probably wont get mail any quicker now though, cause my last area was right next to the mission home so it always got to me quickly.

i guess that brings me to a topic, and that is how is my life different now that the whole zl thing has come. honestly, life isnt that much different. i kinda don't like talking about it a ton, cause it doesnt really matter a ton. i just hate it when people get the idea that it is some big accomplishment to become a zone leader or whatever, and i dont want people to think that its important to me cause that basically opposes every reason why i came on a mission.

as for my everyday life, i remember dad mentioned to me a couple of weeks ago that on his mission, the zone leaders didnt have their own prosolyting areas, they just went on exchanges everyday or something. that's something that president focuses on a ton, as he tries to make finding and teaching the main part of every missionary's life, cause thats why we're here.

i've heard alot of missions have office elders and secretaries to the president, and president sabey has decided against all that. all he really has are his assistants, and even they have their own prosolyting area too.

our responsibilities are things like mail, imprest (that's giving reimbursment to the elders for the expenses that the mission pays for), one of the zone leaders instructs at every zone conference, and we go on exchanges.

we went on exchanges almost every single day last week, to almost every single area in our zone haha. but that's not normal at all. we kinda did it for two reasons. to find out how each of the missionaries are doing with the goal we have now, and to help me get to know the zone really well.

by the way, elder halling leaves on friday and by then i'll have my new companion!! here's my thoughts on that: i wonder if, cause im still new at this whole zl thing, i'll get a new companion that's been a zone leader before. also i think it's been too long since i've had an african companion so i'm hoping for a black companion. but whatev. i've long since given up trying to predict transfers in this mission (you're never right haha).

it's all a bunch of random stuff like that that we do. really, maybe the biggest change is just that you are almost forced to spend a little less time thinking about yourself and how you are doing, and think more about the other missionaries and how they are doing, and how we can improve things.

it's been a big learning curve. so far i've liked it though.

we'll i gotta go, we're getting together for a zone party at the beach today!!

love you, hope all is well for you.

love, elder mackay
